May Day! May Day!

Hi Everyone!

I write to you from my couch in my sunny writing room, laptop in hand. I am trying to finish the sequel to Litha Dreams this weekend, but as Yoda once said "Do or Do Not, There is No Try" SO I guess I am changing that thought of mine to be "I am finishing the sequel to Litha Dreams by my self-imposed deadline of May 1"(aka Beltaine, aka May Day)

This has a bit of special significance for me.

Last year as I was writing Litha Dreams, the office chair I was sitting on suddenly collapsed, pitching me backward and causing me to hit my head on the floor (this is NO joke) I tell my mother all the time that the power of my muse suddenly reached the maximum threshold in my computer room. I submitted Litha Dreams to DCL Publications on the May 1 deadline and lo and behold, I had my first contract. So there will always be an excitement at this time of year for me. I got rid of the office chair by the way.

I had a wonderful time guest blogging as Helen Hardt's featured Monday Hero author. Please take a peek at her blog at My friend Catherine Bybee at has a new video blog up on her page that also motivated me to get this story done! I cannot state enough how wonderful and warm the writing community has been to a new author such as myself. I am proud to be in the ranks with such great people!

Here's wishing a great weekend to all! I am going to really try to be more regular with my blogs here...AFTER the sequel is written!

An Author's Weekend Excitement

Hi everyone! I'm taking a short break to blog this afternoon.
I've often said that in the process of writing and publication, most of the pre-publication is "Hurry up and Wait". We write the book, send it off, wait to get edits, do the edits, return the edits, wait to see if any more come in and then wait for release day.
What I discovered POST release day is that a lot of stuff happens in quick succession!

I got a 5 Heart Review from The Romance Studio (see earlier post)

I found LITHA DREAMS is on the Current Ebook Bestsellers List. I even took a screen shot:

I am enjoying this status for as long as it lasts!
I got my first bit of reader mail and was so happy to respond to it.
I will be a guest author at Helen Hardt's blog next Monday (more info to follow)
It was a wonderfully exciting weekend to have all of this happen. Now on to writing the once more "Hurry Up and Wait" LOL
Off topic:
I will also add that the other highlight to my weekend was finding out that the Ship Captain that the pirates were holding for ransom was freed by our Navy SEALS! God bless our military!

5 Heart Review for LITHA DREAMS from The Romance Studio

Hi Everyone! What a great way to end my day yesterday...I got the email that this review was up at

I am very happy!

Litha Dreams

Rachel Moniz
Historical romance
Available from The Dark Castle Lords
ISBN: 978-1-921347- 91-7
March 2009

A recurring dream of passion helps Lady Morgan Mackenzie hold out against her mother's matchmaking. None of the suitors came close to being the man who would be her soul mate. Unbeknownst to her, not far away from her castle lives Lord Rowan Buchanan. Rowan is likewise being pressured by his uncle to find a mate. A chance meeting sparks passion between them. But can they pass the inspection of Morgan's demanding mother?

Rachel Moniz pens an enchanting tale of two people who meet in dreams of passion. What a good match the two are! The characters Ms. Moniz builds will take the reader to that special place we find in great fiction when we can smile throughout a book. This is a happy book of fantasies becoming reality. For those who have already found that person who seems to make our hopes and dreams come true it will be a memorable stimulus to those memories of finding our true love. For others it holds the hope that being oneself will make the waiting worthwhile! This is a great read.

Release Week and Other Happenings

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to chit-chat with everyone that stops by here.

This will be a mirrored on my MySpace blog ( Go ahead and friend me and feel free to subscribe to my blogs. I am also on Facebook and I come right up if you search on my name.

Release week was a lot of fun. I was interviewd on my friend Catherine Bybee's blog and you can still read it by going to I had a blast meeting new authors and finding some great new blogs to peruse. Our community of authors is such a great one and I am proud and happy to be a part of it!

I got some good feedback from those who have read Litha Dreams. I can't tell how happy I was to hear from my friends who have gotten the book! If you've gotten it, THANK YOU! Let me know what you think of it. I am eargerly awaiting my next reviews

I am hard at work on two short stories right now and am currently in deep, deep research for the military series. Busy season is beginning for the 'day job' so this means I have to prioritize my time very carefully in order to get everything I want done.

Other than that my dears, life has been pretty quiet. The excitement of my last week was going out with Bobby to Sam's Club and to Quizno's for the first time (don't laugh...I had a great time!) Until next time...
